Artist’s Statement

I am, at heart, an urban explorer. Whether strolling or riding my bike, my camera is with me. Although I call New York City home, I am constantly looking for new ways to see what I have seen before, appreciating either the framework, juxtaposition, or culmination of what is surrounding me. I hold on to these unique moments of renewed viewpoints with photography.

As a Latin trumpet player, I am inspired by music, looking for rhythmic patterns in still scenes. Within my latest collection, Manhattan Windows, I sought to capture this feeling with Manhattan’s architecture, identifying a sense of movement as buildings intertwine.

While New York City is always photographed, I hope to provide a fresh perspective that might encourage others to keep looking a bit deeper, to see beyond the landmarks and to discover a new feeling and emotion perhaps unintended by the city’s creators themselves.
